In month of February when I got a call from Dhriiti foundation saying that my name has been shortlisted for 5 days’ workshop on women entrepreneurship skills enhancement, I was thrilled. I knew this will change my life for better and it did indeed. Just sharing snap shots of emotions that I felt during those 5 days and why they are so special.
(Mr. Richard Pinkham, Director of programs, North India Office, Embassy of USA, Leading the session on the first Day)
So it all started on 20th March, 2017. I was there on time for my registration for the workshop. I was excited, hopeful and really looking forward to it. There were 19 other womenpreneurs who were selected from my region and were present with same aspirations. We kicked off the session with small introductions about ourselves and headed straight to the point. Anirban, our coach, our mentor, wasted no time in ensuring that WE have the power. In the first hour itself, he dared us to dream. He asked us to write our vision and clear our mission. Wow! It was a start that was enduring, passionate and full of purpose.
As I sat down to write my ‘Vision’ and ‘Mission’, I realised that my venture till now was like a ship that was sailing alright but wasn’t going in any direction. This is what a good training is all about; it makes you restless at the start but in the end gives you the right direction. The day which started with great excitement, purpose and hope, ended with a Vision, Mission and lots of Determination.
Next 4 Days:
( Tara Mc Cartney talking about Women Power)
Once the direction was set sailing towards it was rather smooth. I was already playing different roles depending upon the situation. At times I am a mother, at times a daughter in law and at times a wife. Each role has its own specific responsibility and significance. However, in these 4 days I realised that there is another role that I had to play with same kind of dedication and responsibility and that was the role of an entrepreneur. I will be honest here that of all the different roles I use to juggle with this one was the least looked after. However, my perception changed significantly in those 4 days. I realized that I am accountable on this front also. I am accountable to myself, to my dreams and most importantly to my vision.
A Journey that has just begun:
(Yes, We Can!)
I know path ahead is not simple. At every step, I have to challenge my conviction, iron out my guts and go beyond my comfort zone but those 5 days had instilled tremendous faith in me. I know I have the calibre and zeal to achieve my goal; all I want to do is make a plan and keep working on it till it turns into a passion. Before this workshop, I was working on a business, but now, I am working on myself and it will take care of the business. Yes, I Can, or in other words, Yes I Can!
