Before I start with my words, let me make it very clear that the purpose of this post is not to argue the fact that paid traffic is better than an Organic one.
Or Digital Marketing companies should not be wasting their time on generating Organic traffic. Rather, it’s a simple discussion that is based on my personal experience.
Okay, so coming back to the title of the article, Does Organic Traffic matter that much especially at the start of your campaign.
I will elaborate it more by giving a simple example:
Shop A : Gets 600 Unique visitors to their Shop listed online but none of them converts into a paid customer.
Shop B: Gets 100 Unique visitors to their Shop of which 2 converts into paid customer.
Question: Who you think will be happier at the end of the month?
This is what I am trying to put across that when you are starting a campaign, even if your organic reach is not able to work wonders for you don’t dishearten yourself.
Remind yourself of your business goal. If you are selling a product or a service, the success of your business depends heavily on how many units you are able to sell or new clients you are able to acquire.
So even if those customers don’t come from your organic base, breathe easy!
In last few months I had seen many small business owners who are running Digital marketing campaigns themselves sweat about how low their web traffic is.
Or, I have come across so many questions on Quora.com where people are asking, How to generate Organic web traffic for a website.
I agree, Organic traffic is imperative and one must always continue to work towards attaining it but it’s equally important to understand your business goals.
Driving traffic should not be the only virtue of your business; rather you should be aiming at what your business vision is.
Even all the top Digital marketing Gurus who preach about Organic traffic rely heavily on Paid advertisements when it comes to selling their books or booking people for webinar.
I think, in time like today it makes a huge sense to advertise on platforms like Facebook and Instagram where the Click through rate is still very low.
Organic reach has its power but it requires an insane amount of hard work and regular generation of content to reach to that level that doesn’t mean that you should be playing a waiting game till then.
What I fail to get is that how many people today are obsessed with the number games. They are fretting over their blog traffic; they are losing sleep over their Likes and Comments.
I agree and understand that it is important but that’s not the only thing. In fact it is a very small ratio of the game. Please make sure that you always look at the big picture.
You must never lose a sight of your goal. If you have cosmetic shop and you want to sell products online, why are you waiting for traffic to come on your website? Simply list your shop on Amazon, Ebay and run a Facebook campaign to showcase what all you got.
Even for a blog, why are you waiting for people to discover you, publish your piece and boost it up?
Dear readers, understand that there are tons of blogs written every single day, check this for yourself: http://www.worldometers.info/blogs/
So, building a regular or organic base will take time and it should. Organic reach should mean finding loyal customer base and loyalty always comes with time. Well, people can have different definitions on it but this is what organic is for me.
I am sharing this because I too was smitten by this bug of generating heavy traffic to the website.
I worked hard and posted regularly, I did everything that Mr. Dean and Mr. Patel had to say but when I use to check my analytics after 3-4 days; I was always disappointed by the results.
It was at that time I thought that what I am doing and what I want to achieve?
I am into Digital Marketing and my business runs by selling my services. In other words I needed clients more than the traffic.
This is when I shifted my focus towards acquiring more clients. This is when I started using LinkedIn differently and working hard on my Facebook Ads.
Results gradually picked and let me tell you little secret, today my traffic is also increasing gradually.
I hope through this post I had been able to make my point but in case you have any other opinion to this, we can always discuss.
